Llanelli council is in discussions with developers over the future of the vacant Clos Sant Paul housing block, a key component of regeneration efforts in the Tyisha ward. The site, located on Station Road-a major route between the town centre and rail station-has been empty since the former housing charity The Wallich vacated it. Council officials confirmed talks are ongoing, with a goal to finalize arrangements by year-end.
Local business owner Natalie Evans highlighted the potential for Station Road to thrive with increased housing and retail activity. "Station, Road is a busy road-it would be flourishing if we had more homes, more customers buying food," she said. The area once housed four council blocks of flats and maisonettes, which were demolished four years ago.
Tyisha councillor Terry Davies emphasized the challenges faced in revitalizing the ward, including poverty, anti-social behaviour, and environmental decline. "I’ve worked with this team from the very beginning and have seen firsthand the challenges they have faced," he said. Davies, who has shaped the site’s future alongside community groups, confirmed the plan is progressing. "It has been a long and difficult challenge, but I am looking forward to sharing exciting updates with residents later in the year," he added.
