Lee John has resumed his role as manager of Llanelli Town, coming back nine months after he left. He assumes control of a team sitting 16th in the FAW Championship, having earned only two points from 11 outings, with a record of no wins and two draws. The side has scored just nine goals while conceding 33, leaving them with a goal difference of negative 24 and a massive 19 points behind the league leaders, Swansea University.

The club announced the move this week, saying John agreed to come back following constructive talks. His first match in charge will be an away fixture against Pontypridd United.

John expressed to the club that he feels there is "unfinished business" for him at Stebonheath Park. He first took the helm at Llanelli in November 2021 and guided the team to win the Cymru South championship.

His reappointment comes shortly after the departures of manager Terry Boyle and general manager Colin Staples. Boyle's last game ended in a heavy Welsh Cup loss to Caerau Ely. The team has been defeated in each of its last five games, a run of five consecutive losses. This includes a 6-0 defeat to Caerau (Ely) on Saturday 16 October, a 6-2 loss to Ynyshir Albions on Saturday 10 October, a 1-2 home defeat to Baglan Dragons, a 0-2 loss at Llantwit Major, and a 0-3 defeat at Caerau (Ely). In the 6-2 loss, the team's goals came from K. Whitmore who scored twice, including an 80th-minute penalty and a goal in stoppage time.

The side has let in many more goals than it has scored this campaign. It has yet to secure a victory in the league, recording only two draws.

Following his initial exit in January, John worked as an assistant at Afan Lido. Coincidentally, Lido, who currently sit 10th in the table, are scheduled to play at Stebonheath Park in Llanelli's next fixture on Friday 23 October. Llanelli Town is one of several clubs from its division seeking approval for top-flight football in a future season.

John's primary objective is to halt the decline and reduce the distance to the team just above the relegation zone. The scale of the job is evident in the league table. He will start his work with the trip to face Pontypridd United.
