Llanelli Town AFC are searching for a new manager and general manager after both Terry Boyles and Colin Staples resigned. The departures follow a 6-0 defeat to Caerau (Ely) in the Welsh Cup last Friday, which left the club bottom of the Cymru South with just two points from 11 league games.

Boyles had been in charge since January, initially on an interim basis before being appointed permanently over the summer. His final match was the heavy cup loss, a result that extended a dismal run of form. Llanelli have not won any of their 11 league fixtures this season, drawing twice and losing nine times. They have conceded 33 goals while scoring only nine, leaving them with a goal difference of minus 24 and seven points adrift of safety.

Squad turnover and future plans

General manager Colin Staples, who was appointed in July 2025 ahead of the club's first Cymru Premier season, also stepped down with immediate effect. His departure coincides with a period of significant player turnover. Key figures like Sean Cronin, Jamie Baker, and Danny Williams have left for clubs including Afan Lido and Penybont. Recruit Calum Salter also departed quickly for Afan Lido.

The club acknowledged both men's contributions in a statement. "Terry Boyles, during his time as First Team Manager this season, has provided valuable opportunities for a number of our development players to make their senior debuts," it said. It added that his "commitment to giving young players a pathway into senior football will undoubtedly prove to be a valuable asset as the club continues to build and develop its on field future." The club also noted Staples' role in shaping longer-term plans aligned with Football Association of Wales development strategies.

A critical run of fixtures

With the club in 16th place and 19 points behind leaders Swansea University, the immediate focus is on halting the slide. Their recent fixtures show a brutal sequence of five consecutive defeats, including heavy losses to Ynyshir Albions and Baglan Dragons. The next match is a key home game against 10th-placed Afan Lido on Friday, 23 October. That is followed by trips to Pontypridd United and Caerphilly Athletic, with home games against Pontardawe Town and Cardiff Draconians to come in November.

Chairman Wayne Stephens and secretary Peter Tiffin now oversee a critical period. The club's development evening last year outlined ambitions that now require urgent action to avoid relegation. The search for new leadership begins with a vital six-pointer against Afan Lido at Stebonheath Park this week.
