Llanelli AFC face a stern test at second-placed Pontypridd Town this Friday as they try to end a damaging five-match losing streak.

That form has left the club rooted to 16th in the FAW Championship table with just two points from their opening 12 fixtures. They have yet to win a league game this season, drawing two and losing ten, and have a goal difference of minus 27 after scoring nine and conceding 36. Pontypridd Town, in contrast, are firmly in the promotion hunt and will provide a formidable challenge at USW Sports Park.

The recent results make for grim reading. Following the loss to Afan Lido, Llanelli were thrashed 6-2 at Ynyshir Albions and suffered narrow 2-1 and 2-0 defeats to Baglan Dragons and Llantwit Major respectively. The team's defensive frailties have been a constant issue throughout the campaign. Their most recent outing was a 3-0 home defeat to Afan Lido on Friday 23 October, a result that extended their recent form to five straight losses. This poor sequence also includes a 6-0 defeat away to Caerau (Ely) on Friday 16 October and a 3-0 loss to the same opponent back on Friday 11 September.

Friday's match kicks off at 19:30 local time. It represents a chance for Llanelli to stop the rot against high-flying opposition, though they will need a significant improvement to get a result.

The club now sits a daunting 19 points behind league leaders Swansea University. Their next opportunity to change their fortunes comes on the road this Friday evening with the trip to face Pontypridd Town on Friday 30 October.
